Upper School History Teacher

Status: Full-Time

Sidwell Friends, a co-educational Quaker day school, seeks an Upper School History Teacher beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time benefits-eligible position is based on the Washington, D.C. campus and begins in August 2024.

The ideal candidate will be able to inspire and support students and be willing to work collaboratively and independently in an environment committed to Quaker values, academic excellence, equity, justice, service, and students’ social and emotional wellness. An appreciation for adolescents and a sense of humor are also essential.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in history, a related field, or an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Teaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
  • Experience teaching some combination of the History of the United States, World History, African History, or East Asian History is required.
  • Teaching positions at Sidwell Friends School are campus-based and in-person.
