Human Resources Manager

We are looking for a Human Resources Manager who embodies professionalism and demonstrates this commitment with a thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures and working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment/labor regulations.

The HR manager reports directly to the Chief HR and Culture Officer and is primarily responsible for performance management, employee relations, training, and development. This role offers a unique opportunity to create and/or refine systems. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to communicate and engage effectively within all levels of the school and with external stakeholders.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serve as a consultant with managers, advising them on issues of performance, equal employment opportunity and harassment. Handle confidential matters with discretion and courtesy.
  • Champion the onboarding process by ensuring that it is high-quality, up-to-date, and provides clarity and connection for employees so their roles serve the School’s overall mission.
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local HR regulations by conducting investigations in a timely manner and maintaining records.
  • Create, analyze, and enhance performance management tools and resources for managers and employees and provide training as needed.
  • Develop survey tools to capture metrics on engagement, employee morale, and professional development.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to internal standard operating procedures, including systems, to provide efficient and effective HR solutions.
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise HR activities by scheduling management conferences.
  • Build strong relationships with external suppliers, fostering trust and promoting collaboration.

  • Excellent judgment and proven ability to analyze issues quickly and take appropriate action under limited time constraints. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and triage appropriately.
  • Proficient with ADP Workforce, Microsoft Office suite, or related software.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience in human resources is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Human Resources.
  • 3+ years of experience in employee relations, specifically conducting investigations.
  • 3+ years of organizational design/effectiveness.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds, at times.
