Interim History Teacher

Department: Upper School
Location: Washington, DC
Position Start Date: Immediately
Status: Part-Time

Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school with campuses in Washington, DC, and Bethesda, MD, seeks a part-time Interim History Teacher to teach Modern Middle East History and World History in its Upper School from November 2024 to January 2025.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to inspire and support students and show a willingness to work collaboratively and independently in an environment committed to Quaker values, academic excellence, equity, justice, service, and students’ social and emotional wellness. An appreciation for adolescents and a sense of humor are also essential.

Required Qualifications & Education

  • Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree in History or a related field (an advanced degree is preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience (preferably High School Level)
  • Experience teaching the Modern Middle East (preferred)

Compensation

Commensurate with experience. The salary for the 12-week assignment can range from $11,000.00 to $22,600.00
