Chinese Teacher, Upper School Long-Term Substitute

Location: Washington, DC
Position Start Date: Immediately
Status: Full- Time

Sidwell Friends, a co-educational, PK-12, Quaker day school, seeks applicants for a long-term Chinese Language Substitute Teacher. The position is near full-time (0.8), beginning in Mid- October 2024 and ending in Beginning -November 2024, and involves teaching four Chinese language courses to students in grades 9-12.

Preferred qualifications include experience teaching Chinese; familiarity with Chinese language pedagogy; experience in China; strong background in Chinese culture and native or near-native proficiency in spoken and written Chinese; a bachelor’s degree; proficiency with technology; a commitment to working collaboratively with other Chinese teachers to maintain a strong language program; strong interpersonal skills and comfort in dealing with multiple and diverse constituencies. Experience with TPRS methodology is preferred but not required.

Compensation

  • Daily Rate $225.
