Sidwell Friends School, a co-educational Quaker day school, seeks a 5th Grade Homeroom Teacher who genuinely appreciates and actively supports the Quaker philosophy of our School. This full-time benefits-eligible Middle School position is based on the Washington, DC, campus and will begin in late August 2026. Reporting to the Middle School Principal, the 5th-grade homeroom teacher is responsible for teaching language arts, social studies, and math in a homeroom setting. Homeroom teachers also serve as the liaison between home and school, so establishing relationships with families is critical. Other responsibilities include planning with a team of teachers, monitoring student progress, writing student reports, and preparing for and leading parent-teacher conferences. Homeroom teachers are also expected to be involved in the life of the school in a variety of ways, including attendance at meetings, communicating and collaborating with students, colleagues, and families, and taking on additional responsibilities such as lunch and break duties.
