Sidwell Friends School, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a qualified per diem substitute Assistant Rowing Coach for the team’s spring break trip in March 2025. The substitute Assistant Rowing Coach reports to the Head Rowing Coach and Athletic Director and is responsible for assisting with training and oversight of high-school aged student athletes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent Sidwell Friends School and the Rowing Program professionally in all aspects, including during training and competition. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Travel with and assist in the training and coaching of the team between March 20th and March 26th, 2025 during the annual spring break trip to Florida.
- Plan, organize, and lead practice sessions on the water and land
- Drive a passenger minivan to help transport athletes
- Drive a launch while conducting practice.
- Travel with the team and assist with chaperone responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Competitive collegiate rowing experience.
- Minimum 1-year competitive youth coaching or high school teaching experience.
- Ability to drive a motorized launch.
- Driver’s license.
- Knowledge of athlete safety and general boathouse safety.
- Ability to communicate well and honestly.
- Willingness to work with student-athletes at all stages of development.
- An appreciation for the fact that many SFS student-athletes balance a variety of activities and obligations beyond their commitment to rowing.
- As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will complete and clear a background and fingerprint screening before the first day of work. Upon hire, they will obtain CPR Certification, First Aid training, Boating License, USRowing Level 1 certification, and other requirements.
Compensation
- Stipend $2,675.00-$3,852.00. Stipend will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and may be subject to being prorated based on the number of days and weeks worked.
